Watercolor artist Al Stine will return to Savannah Oct. 26-29 for a four-day workshop sponsored by The Dolphin and The Mermaid at the Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens. Stine was an illustrator in Chicago for many years. He graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and did additional studies at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. A Signature Member of the Midwest Watercolor Society and an Artist Member of the American Society of Marine Artists, he owns and operates Stine Gallery in Anderson, S.C. Stine and his wife Liz conduct watercolor workshops around the United States, Canada and Mexico. All levels, with emphasis on the landscape and the human figure. $275. SAVANNAH ART ASSOCIATION

"Drawing Inspiration for the Masters," free drawing classes will be held at SPACE in the Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs building, 9 West Henry St., from 9 a.m. until noon each Saturday unless noted. Remaining sessions include:

July 7, 14, 21, July 28 at Telfair Museum. Lynda Potter teaches abrasive and liquid mediums.

August 4, 11, 18, 25 at Telfair Museum. Trina Schafer teaches elements of design in drawing.

Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 at Telfair Museum. Jan Pagratis teaches expressive issues in drawing.

Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 at Telfair Museum. Phil Stark teaches envisioned images in drawing.

These free classes and the workshop are part of the Savannah Art Association's 9-month series of classes, "Drawing Inspiration From the Masters 2001" sponsored by the City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs/Leisure Services Bureau and partially funded by the Arts Legacy Fund of the Savannah Foundation. THE ART SCHOOL

A new season of art instruction is beginning at The Art School. Class sizes are limited: Instruction is structured but not so rigid that creative expression is hindered. Classes at The Art School, 320 E. Montgomery Crossroad, Suite 6, will be held weekly and students may enroll at any time as long as space is available. CULTURAL AFFAIRS SUMMER VISUAL ART CAMPS 2001

July 9-20, Monday-Friday, ages 11-17, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Location: SPACE, $180 per session

Maximum Enrollment: 30 students per session

Students enrolled in all Cultural Affairs Visual Arts Camps will study the fundamentals of two- and three-dimensional design while having great fun. Each will participate in classes exploring ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media projects. Students will enjoy working on individual projects as well as working together as a group on one large collaborative sculpture. Camps will also take field trips to the Telfair Museum of Art. Camp registration fees include art supplies, lunches and snacks. Lunches will be held picnic style in Forsyth Park. (Rain site SPACE Gallery.) Students will be able to show off their art to parents and friends at a reception for the 3rd Annual Summer Visual Arts Camp Student Exhibition August 17.

This exhibition will include representations of projects completed during 2001 Camp Sessions by all students. Art will be on display to the public August 10-Sept. 10, 2001. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

CREATION STATION

This Hilton Head Center for Art, part of the Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services, will offer several classes beginning each month. Courses include watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, drawing for beginners or brush-up, landscapes in the medium of your choice, calligraphy, floor cloth paintings, portraiture, faux finishes and pastel painting. Children's classes on discovering art and polymer clay sculpture. Class time and fees vary. Call the 106 Cordillo Parkway center at (843) 842-5738 for information or to register.

B. FRAME DESIGN

Faux finishing and decorative painting workshops the first Friday and Saturday of each month. Students will learn several faux finish techniques, including marbling, leather, sky and clouds, crackles and various glazing effects. Classes at the 108 Shipyard Road studio are from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. $295 fee includes materials and lunch both days. Call 354-0287 to register or for more information.
