S&L Gallery
This new gallery will open hosting the works of ceramist Jane Pleak on Nov. 9 from 4-7 p.m. Her work will remain on display through Dec 31. The gallery also showcases the works of several other local artists, in addition to their selection of two- and three-dimensional work by nationally-known artists. Bread and Butter Cafe
"Broken - And Putting the Pieces Back Together," is an exhibition by Dominick Pannazzo that is on exhibit through the end of December. The exhibition will open with a reception Nov. 1 from 2-4 p.m. The paintings, most in a 36" x 40" format, are oil-on-canvas, acrylic-on-canvas or mixed media and depict the artist's interest in the process of healing states of brokenness and the dynamics of putting life's pieces back together. 719 E. Signature Gallery
Entering his eighth year of painting, Larry Levow continues to explore the various light and conditions that make the area marshes so magical. While presently working on a series of oils and pastels from Ossabaw Island, he is also preparing for a major show of paintings, inspired by trips to France, which will exhibited at the Franco-American Centre in Manchester, N.H., next summer. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. 303 W. Tybee Novemberfest
Tybee Island's Fourth Annual Novermberfest is planned Nov. 15-16 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The event brings together more than 40 artists from the Southeast, along with local musicians and refreshments. Ray Ellis/Compass Prints
An exhibition of all new works by Ray Ellis, opens Nov. 14. The show of watercolors and oils is titled "Night and Day" and features moonlit and sunlit landscapes of the Georgia/South Carolina coast. Meet Ray Ellis at the gallery on opening day from 3-6 p.m. The exhibition closes Dec. 24. A preview of the exhibition can be seen online, www.rayellis.com/exhibition.html after Nov. 7. Ellis will also sign and number his latest giclee print. The limited edition print, "Great Blue Rising," measures 22 x 34 inches. There will be 200 prints and 20 artist proofs in the edition. Landings Art Association
The artists' group will hold its next meeting Nov. 18 when Kurt Hupe, a woodworker from Oregon, will present a program about his art and the beauty of trees. 7:30 p.m., Skidaway Presbyterian Church, non-members are welcome, $3 fee.
Hupe in private exhibit, Telfair Art Fair

Turned bowls and vessels by Kurt Hupe, left, will be shown throughout December and also at the Telfair Art Fair. See Briefs on Page 18 for details. Hupe is also presenting a program at the November meeting of the Landings Art Association.
Oregon artist Kurt Hupe has dedicated his life to sharing his belief in the significance of trees and their rightful place in our ecosystem. He creates art from fallen trees, and hopes his art moves others to see trees with new eyes. An opening for his work will be at 109 Jefferson St., behind Loco's Restaurant, on Nov. 14-15 from 4-7 p.m. Hupe's work will also be exhibited at the Telfair Art Fair on Nov. 8-9. Hupe's works vary in scale, including three-inch to three-foot vessels, monumental slabs, wall hangings and freestanding abstract figures. Works may include elements of copper, bronze, stone, and animal hide - all of which are crafted by the artist from industrial or consumer waste material. Some hand-worked glass vessels and living plants are integrated into wooden sculptures or decorative, functional forms.

Sharon Saseen captures the essence of Savannah in her paintings at Gallery 209.
This month the spotlight falls on painter Sharon Saseen and ceramics artist Betty Melaver. Saseen's watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings of Savannah scenes are an enchanting mixture of color, warmth and imagination. Each one represents Saseen's own magical blend of creativity, design and attention to detail. Savannah artist Laura DiNello is now showing at Chroma Gallery.
This contemporary art gallery features the work of local, national, and international painters, sculptors, jewelers, and glass artists. Chroma is pleased to welcome a local favorite, Laura DiNello, who is known for her imaginative mosaic paintings with musical and figurative themes. At Chroma, DiNello also displays a large screen with bold mosaic panels. DiNello's work has a playful pairing of color: contrasting neutral tones with bright hues.
