Creation Station

Bluffton artist Lynda Potter leads a two-day workshop in floor cloth painting Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Potter will show how to enlarge and transfer your chosen image to become an acrylic painting on canvas. 106 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island. $80 plus a small supply fee. DOLPHIN AND THE MERMAID

Watercolor artist Al Stine will return to Savannah Oct. 26-29 for a four-day workshop sponsored by The Dolphin and The Mermaid at the Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens. Stine was an illustrator in Chicago for many years. He graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine arts and did additional studies at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. A Signature Member of the Midwest Watercolor Society and an Artist Member of the American Society of Marine Artists, he owns and operates Stine Gallery in Anderson, S.C. Stine and his wife Liz conduct watercolor workshops around the United States, Canada and Mexico. All levels, with emphasis on the landscape and the human figure. $275. KIM MILLER classes in drawing and acrylic painting will begin in September. Color Theory for Acrylic Painters will begin Sept. 5 and meet for three weeks. Introduction to Drawing begins Sept. 10 and continues for six weeks - designed for the student who "can't draw a straight line."

SAVANNAH ART ASSOCIATION

"Drawing Inspiration for the Masters," free drawing classes will be held at SPACE in the Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs building, 9 West Henry St., from 9 a.m. until noon each Saturday unless noted. Remaining sessions include:

Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 at Telfair Museum. Jan Pagratis teaches expressive issues in drawing.

Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 at Telfair Museum. Phil Stark teaches envisioned images in drawing.

These free classes and the workshop are part of the Savannah Art Association's 9-month series of classes, "Drawing Inspiration From the Masters 2001" sponsored by the City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs/Leisure Services Bureau and partially funded by the Arts Legacy Fund of the Savannah Foundation. THE ART SCHOOL

A new season of art instruction is beginning at The Art School. Class sizes are limited: Instruction is structured but not so rigid that creative expression is hindered. Classes at The Art School, 320 E. Montgomery Crossroad, Suite 6, will be held weekly and students may enroll at any time as long as space is available. B. FRAME DESIGN

Faux finishing and decorative painting workshops the first Friday and Saturday of each month. Students will learn several faux finish techniques, including marbling, leather, sky and clouds, crackles and various glazing effects. Classes at the 108 Shipyard Road studio are from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. $295 fee includes materials and lunch both days. Call 354-0287 to register or for more information.
