Sapelo Island Culture Day will offer tours of island, music, arts and crafts
The Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society is hosting its 7th Annual Culture Day on Sept. 15 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The event celebrates the culture of the Gullah/Geechee community who are descendants of slaves, whose culture dates to the mid-19th century and survives today.
A variety of booths will be set up to display island food and culture. There will also be music, storytelling, dancing demonstrations, arts and crafts and more.
Tours of the island are $5; tickets are $15 and includes round-trip ferry transportation from the Sapelo Dock.
